Business Jet Re-Engining: Do they hold their Value

Evaluating the ROI for a substantial investment like business jet re-engining is not a simple undertaking. The final result is dependent on both tangible and intangible factors. Resale value, yearly aircraft expense and use, efficiency and engine maintenance costs can be figured analytically but reduced time traveling, increased cabin comfort and greater safety margins add emotional value to the equation. For an aircraft owner contemplating a choice between overhauling existing engines, a re-engining modification or replacing the aircraft, some real-world data can be invaluable in cutting through the confusion and hype of today’s rapidly changing aircraft marketplace.

Resale Value
- Based on average asking price history from JetNet data, popular re-engined aircraft retain more than 90% of their total value 3 – 5 years after the modification. Additionally, aircraft on a manufacturer’s Power by the Hour program see no depreciation due to engine time - unlike legacy engines.
